How comparable are the numbers? Limits & source flags
  • Self-reported participation does not measure daily or monthly active accounts, time spent, any individual platform, or all ages.
  • Age 16–24 includes both minors and adults; it is not a teen-only survey.
  • National translation, sampling, survey mode, reference periods and nonresponse treatment can reduce comparability.
  • Do not average national percentages to recreate the EU aggregate. Eurostat supplies the aggregate.
  • Small differences are not evidence of statistical significance or causation.
  • Indicator-specific sample sizes and confidence intervals are not supplied in this JSON-stat table. Differences are descriptive, not tests of statistical significance.

Flags in this release: Confidential; Break in time series; Low reliability. They remain attached to each affected observation in the download. Confidential values are missing; time-series breaks cannot support continuous growth calculations.

Source lineage & review Follow the evidence
  1. A parameterised Eurostat Statistics API request retrieves values and status flags.
  2. Dimension codes and precision are preserved. Confidential and missing values stay missing.
  3. Validation checks coverage, range, duplicate keys, source metadata and compatibility. Changes and flags require review.
  4. An immutable snapshot records the observations, series and calculation inputs.
Evidence review
Assisted evidence check; independent human editorial approval has not been recorded. Reviewer/process: Codex-assisted evidence check.
Review note
Checked live official API, source dimensions, metadata and commercial reuse policy; corroborated 2025 EU and Denmark totals against Eurostat news. Preserved France 2024 confidentiality, France 2025 series breaks and Ireland low-reliability flags. Large annual changes are retained exactly as published, not interpreted as comparable growth; growth helper blocks movements over 10 percentage points pending national-method review. No human expert review or statistical significance claimed.
